BODY LANGUAGE (THE EFFECT ON COMMUNICATION)

The action they say speaks louder than words. This truth is only understood by a few and it should get better. Thus, this article will expose the importance of body language and how it affects communication

Many people fail to give attention to body language as well as they give to the words that emanate from the mouth of the second person in their discussion. Sometimes, all you need to know is just the person’s body language. People speak verbally and non-verbally. This is why you should be conscious of body language which is non-verbal communication.

Body language could come in different ways

• Body contact

It can be used to show a likeness to some. Shy people might not be able to use words in expressing or communicating how they feel about you so they most times make use of body language. For example, touching hands. A guy or lady who likes you will at intervals touch your hands or play around with the public part of your body. It’s a gesture to express their likeness to you. If you do this without having such thoughts it is miscommunication and you should be found guilty of mind games.

•Eye contact

When someone has his or her eyes transfixed on you whilst in a discussion it means they pay full attention and follow up with you. Throwing gazes often at other things shows a lack of interest in whatever you’re saying.

• Facial expression.

Laughter, and frowning is none verbal ways of expressing oneself in communication. Funny things make you laugh and upsetting things make you frown. You don’t continue with a joke when it makes someone frowns. Do you? So this should be understood.

If verbal expression lies, body language doesn’t lie. It is always a betrayal to the lies said with the mouth. It is a strong sensor when it comes to communicating.

Over 90% of humans are more concerned with body language and intonation than actual words. This tells how you how ingrained nonverbal communication is in the brain and gives you an idea of the importance of body language in communication.
